what I collect, why, and your choices
privacy notice

who I am
this site is run by the art of craft by ally LLC (that's me, Ally). if you have a question about anything on this page, or want to use any of the choices below, reach me through the contact page.
what I collect and why
- contact form: your name, email, and message, so I can reply to you.
- class email list: your email, so I can tell you when new classes are available.
- class sign-up: your email, name, how many people are coming, whether you're reserving a spot or just keeping me in mind, and any comments, so I can plan the class and email you a confirmation and a reminder.
- payments: class payments are taken at sign-up through Stripe's secure checkout. the payment form is Stripe's, shown inside the sign-up form, so your card details go to Stripe, not to this site, and I never see or store them. I receive confirmation that you paid, along with your name and email.
- analytics: see "cookies and analytics" below.
I don't sell your personal information.
who else handles your information
I use a few services to run the site. your information may be processed in the United States, where these companies operate.
- Netlify hosts this site and stores what you submit through the forms.
- Stripe processes class payments, and Stripe's payment form loads on the class sign-up when you reserve a spot. see Stripe's own privacy policy for what it does with your payment information.
- Resend sends the confirmation and reminder emails when you sign up and pay for a class.
- an email service may be used to send class announcements to people on the class email list.
- Google Fonts supplies the fonts on this site, so your browser contacts Google when a page loads.
- Instagram posts are embedded on the socials page, so Instagram may collect information when that page loads. see Instagram's own privacy policy for what it does.
- Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity are used for analytics (see "cookies and analytics" below).
cookies and analytics
what happens depends on where you are:
- in the United States, analytics is on unless you opt out. you can opt out any time using "cookie settings" in the footer of any page.
- anywhere else, a banner at the bottom of the page asks first, and analytics stays off unless you accept. until you do, no analytics cookies are set and no analytics data is sent.
to tell which applies, this site asks Netlify (which hosts it) which country your visit comes from, based on your IP address. nothing about that is saved. if I can't tell, I treat you as outside the United States.
when analytics is on, I use:
- Google Analytics to see how many people visit, where they come from, which pages they view, how long they spend, and what they click.
- Microsoft Clarity to see heatmaps and recordings of how visitors move, click, and scroll on the site.
- my own form tracking, which notes which form fields were started or filled and where visitors stop. it records field names only, never what you typed in them.
you can change your mind anytime by clicking "cookie settings" in the footer of any page. this site doesn't respond to "do not track" browser signals.
how long I keep things
I keep contact messages and class sign-up details for as long as I need them to reply to you, run classes, and keep basic records. analytics data is kept for the period set in Google Analytics and Clarity.
your choices and rights
you can ask me what information I have about you, ask me to correct it, or ask me to delete it. just use the contact page. if you're in the European Union or the United Kingdom, you can also ask me to limit or stop using your information, and you can complain to your local data protection authority. for visitors outside the United States I use your consent for analytics, and I use the details you give me in the forms to do what you asked, like reply to you or reserve your spot in a class.
